Acer, the worlds 4th largest PC manufacturer, has announced that it will delay the delivery of its own tablet device running Windows RT Surface.
Initially planned for the start of 2013, it will not ship until at least April, or later.
Acer are being more caution with Windows RT due to a number of concerns over software glitches and app. availability for the RT version.
Jim Wong, Corporate President of Acer Inc. said
Originally we had a very aggressive plan to come out very early next year, but because of Surface, our R&D development doesn’t stop, but we are much more cautious.
Originally our plan was Q1 [January - March], but now I don’t think it will be earlier than Q2 [April - June].
Mr Wong also voiced concerns over the pricing of Microsoft’s own Surface device. Priced at £399 it has taken Acer, Asus, and Lenovo by surprise — all of whom assumed it would be more expensive.
